Even if you ARE a farmer/grinder and are very skillfull, you probubly will still never get in. I farm alot and am fairly good at it, but I like to play with more casual players, I dont want to be in a guild/alliance with people who just grind for 4 hours a day. Because I seek the company of more casual/fun to be with players, I, as a farmer, will NEVER get into the elite missions. Getting into elite missions doesnt require specific skill/farming abilities of yourself. You have to rely on other skillfull players/farmers to get the job done for you.

Meh... I figure I'll do what I always did... PvP, farm for crafting materials for my armor and GvG with guildies. What I won't be doing is the elite missions. I won't be buying chapter 3 either if things don't change.

Same for me...

My pvp guild currently holds a town (some farm) and held a town during the fpe (12v12...unless thats farming O.o)
So yes...the skillful players get the missions...as long as there are a lot of skillful players allied together. (size is the big thing....1000 people giving 5000 a day is a lot more efficent than 50 giving 50000 a day

That's why 4thvariety said it's not a reward *for* skillful play.

i agree with everyone who says that the elite missions do not reward "skillful play" as promised by Anet.
it's maybe too late for Anet to fix this as it would probably take a lot of effort to think up a new system (especially since they are most likely concentrating on Ch3 now)...
so i say a good fix is just to allow the controlling alliance in the elite missions for free, while charging everyone else some amount (say, 10plat, or some amount of faction) to enter. this still would encourage farming, but i guess at this point there is nothing to be done about that -- at least these missions wouldn't be overly exclusive.

After setting up threads on advice on buying Factions and reading other threads, I have heard some good things, but all and all, the game sounds sounds like it @#$%ing sucks @$$. That is all I can say about that. I think it is way too over rated. It is just an expansian rather than a whole new game. Some people have said just to buy WoW. If paying for WoW monthly is better than spending a one time fee, than I know what my choice is whether I should buy Factions or not.......NO!!!!!!!

problem is with WoW you will always be doing both. there you got one time fee AND monthly subscription.
in addition to that you will get more of that endless grinding. in fact that is was made me most unhappy in the first place, the WOWness of the Factionsgrinding model. the mechanik of grinding factions is not something that fits into ehat Anet said GW was; but rather feels like something taken from WoW. So changing to WoW on the basis of not liking that ONE GW game mechanic is like jumping into the pacific after not liking the hotel pool.
sure Factions has it's shortcomings and plenty of 'em, but it is because we believe in this game that we posts threads like that.

1000 skillful people are going to do better than 1000 nonskilled people...Its just that not everyone is on the same field. (there really should be divisions for size)

I think you're missing the point. If it were a reward for skillfull play, 500 very skilled players should be able to do better than 1000 unskilled players. I don't believe that's the case here.

1. Delete the Duel of the Houses, Supply Line Quests without Mercy. Those are the backbone of perverting the game mechanic into a grind.
2. Reshape the requirements to enter the Elite Missions, right now everybody can go in, if the Alliance holding it allows for it. That is not a reward for "skilful play"!!! Instead let any Alliance which offers a factions sacrifice high enough to please the gods or whomever, enter the dam thing and lock all others out again. Then 100% of the playing population would have a chance of going there. Right now only 10h a day grinders stand a chance. Why, cause only they will meet the joining requirements of the alliances which are likely to form soon.
Right now, only 1% of the people who bought the game have a chance of entering the most prestigious part. Under the current system they might “cheat” their way into it, but will most likely to never EARN Cavalon/Heltzer by SKILLFUL PLAY.
That also means that first Anet is waving a reward in everybody’s face, only to lock them out. So 95% of players feel like the little brother who has been shafted by his parents. Considering that Anet wants to continue selling its merchandise to these 95% (rather than to the 5%), it was probably one of the worst ideas of all time, to create a play mechanic which is that discriminating.
And even if Jeff says a million times that those items aren’t “mightier” than others, he fails to see the main point. GW is also about vanity and those items sure look good. That and only that, is making them valuable, NOT the stats.
So please Anet, stop thinking about rewarding the top 5% of gamers with fancy capes or fireworks. Piss them off, not the majority. You won't even notice it when they are gone. Instead give ALL players a fair chance anytime. They are your customers and they do like progressively difficult challenges. Making them compete agressively against each other will only corrupt the spirit of cooperation which forges a strong community.
Sincerely,
Klaus

I agree with everything you said. All of this should be changed to what you said! also there should be more enjoying way to get faction. I hate doing the samething over and over again.
The two houses are separating people to much. Making people in endgame mission scarce.
Lose faction over time sucks alot. I spend 3 hours(very boreing) getting 10k. 3 daays later we lose 4k of it total. Makes me feel i wasted my time.

wow. You are exactly right there. I perfer have fun doing other activities than grinding. So i guess I can never qualify for this unless they change it.
